Anjali Singh
Illustrator · Founder of Ooshybooshy · Lucknow, India
An Indian illustrator working across pen and ink, watercolour and other mediums, with botanical forms, organic pattern and the quiet presence of animals at the heart of her work.

“I work slowly. Whether I'm drawing in pen and ink or painting in watercolour, what carries the piece is close attention: the turn of a petal, the weight of a shadow, the way a vein runs across a leaf.”
Anjali Singh works across monochrome pen and ink, watercolour and other mediums. Her practice is rooted in the natural world of botanical forms, organic pattern and the quiet presence of animals, built slowly through patient detail, texture and line.
Her drawings move between two registers. An observational Inspired by Nature series draws creatures and the plants around them in the same hand, so that animal and world are made of the same lines. An inventive Ornamental body of work borrows from older decorative traditions like Renaissance grotesque, carved urns and protective masks, building worlds by hand inside the discipline of symmetry. Each piece is built slowly, from many thousands of small marks; patience is as much her material as the ink.
She is the founder of Ooshybooshy, a studio and teaching practice through which she shares her approach to floral and ornamental illustration with artists at every level. Her work is available as originals and limited-edition prints, and she takes on commissioned pieces for brands, products and private collections.
