C Scroll in Ornamental Art

In this workshop, you’ll learn how to construct and draw elegant C scrolls by breaking them down into simple, structured steps. Starting from basic spirals, you’ll explore how to build different types of scrolls while maintaining flow, rhythm, and clarity in your design.

You’ll understand how to use grids and geometry as a foundation to create accurate spirals, and then refine them into organic ornamental forms. The session also focuses on combining multiple scrolls in different directions and learning how to create depth using overlapping techniques and line work.

What’s Inside This Workshop

In this workshop, you’ll dive deep into the fundamentals of C scroll construction, starting with grid-based spiral techniques and gradually building toward more complex variations. You’ll learn how to create clean and controlled scrolls, explore combinations in same and reverse directions, and understand how overlapping elements can bring depth and dimension to your designs. The session also covers adding floral elements within scroll structures, improving curve quality, and mastering the flow of secondary veins. Alongside this, you’ll gain practical insights into line control, sketching techniques, and refinement during inking, as well as learn how to use highlights and shading to enhance your final artwork.

By the end of the workshop

You’ll have a strong understanding of how to construct different types of C scrolls, combine them into cohesive designs, and refine them with confidence. You’ll be able to create your own ornamental compositions with better flow, structure, and depth.
