What’s Inside This Workshop
In this workshop, you’ll dive deep into the fundamentals of acanthus design, beginning with lobe construction and basic structure, and gradually building toward more advanced compositions. You’ll learn how to draw straight, curved, and folded acanthus, and understand how each variation behaves in different orientations.
You’ll also go through step-by-step methods of forming acanthus designs in both vertical and horizontal layouts, helping you understand composition and flow. The session covers shading techniques on lobes to create depth, as well as the overall structure of acanthus ornamental design to keep your work balanced and cohesive.
In addition, you’ll learn how to create connection knot designs (with multiple examples) to seamlessly link elements, and how to refine your work using proper line control and detailing. The workshop concludes with a complete finished design, where you’ll apply full shading and highlights to bring your artwork to a polished, professional level.
By the end of the workshop
You’ll have a strong understanding of how to construct and refine different types of acanthus forms, build structured ornamental compositions, and enhance them with depth, connections, and detailing. You’ll be able to create complete acanthus designs with confidence, clarity, and a refined ornamental finish.
